The final mix happens this week and the final edit will follow shortly thereafter but these joys are tempered by problems on the gig front. For those of you who may appreciate how difficult it is to earn a living solely as a musician, you'll understand how my 2 day a week house gig at the Copper Room has been my saving grace. My piano player, who shall remain nameless, just gave 2 weeks (!) notice so we are officially in scramble mode trying to replace him with no prospects in sight. This, at a time when I can't seem to find any serious work outside of the country and continue to wonder how on earth I'm going to sustain my career. The timing is auspicious and it's all very disheartening. The bright spot is tomorrow night's show which will feature my genius friend Mary Lindsay, a world class comedienne, who will be performing with us as a long weekend special feature. I am hoping that Mr. Wolf will see the wisdom in adding her brilliant energy to our show but this now all hinges on whether of not we can keep the band going. My favorite line from Mary's Spider Lodge monologues comes from Peaches, the old woman who reads tarot cards...at one point she says "I see bugs" referring to my future. This seems prophetic at this stage of the game.
